Copy the butterfly shape onto the small square of paper and cut it out. Starting at the pointed end, make small fan folds up the shape. The smaller and more even the folds, the more dramatic the butterfly will be. Hold the butterfly in it's fan and staple through the middle of the butterfly. Alternativley you can wrap some sewing thread around the middle several times before tying it. Do not make the knot so tight that the folds are squashed, it only needs to be held firmly. The thread can be eased up or down the fan to get it into the centre. The paper can now be fanned out to create the butterfly shape. Cut the backing paper so that it is 1cm smaller than the card on all sides. You can use decorative or straight sissors. A torn edge can be created by holding a metal ruler flat onto the paper and tearing against the ruler. You can use peel off borders, ribbon or lace around the edge of the background paper. This is by no means an exhaustive list of ideas! Stick the backing paper onto the card using double sided tape or glue. Stick the butterfly onto your card using PVA glue or a sticky foam pad. They look great in one courner but you can put them where you like. Add a peel off greeting to give your card a proffessional finish. To protect the card during postage, place a piece of thin bubble wrap over the design and carefully place in the envelope.
