Iris Folding Seashore
You Will Need:
- Place an aperture cut panel over the pattern.
- Secure it with a little masking tape.
- You will need the same number of colours of paper as the highest number inside the outer rim of the shape.
- Arrange your chosen colours next to your workspace.
- Take a strip of the first colour.
- Fold one edge of the strip over about a quarter of a centimetre.
- Cut the strip to the length of the area marked 1.
- The strip should overlap the outer edges of the shape.
- Stick the strip in place using sticky tape.
- You may find it easier to place a strip of sticky tape on a craft matt, then cut across the width of the tape approximately every centimetre using a craft knife. You can then use your craft knife to lift each piece of tape off the craft matt and place onto your project.
- Repeat steps 5 - 9 for the area marked 2 using the second colour.
- Continue in the same way, covering each area in order.
- After using the last colour of paper go back to the first.
- After covering all the areas stick a square of holographic paper over the hole that is left (known as the iris).
- Remove the pattern from your card.
- Trim the aperture panel to size.
- A paper trimmer is ideal for this, but you could use fancy scissors or straight scissors.
- You may like to embellish the panel further using corner punches - if so do this now.
- Use double sided tape to stick your finished iris folding onto the front of the card.
- Fold your card closed
- Embellish as desired
Shell Card
Cut the iris folding panel to 7.5cm square. Use the eyelet setter to punch a hold n each corner of the iris folding panel. Insert a bronze eyelet into each hole and set it in place with the eyelet setter. Cut 4 pieces of wire approximately 5cm long. Thread a fish bead onto each one and twist the two ends of the wire around it. Push the wire through the eyelet and secure the lose ends with a little tape so that the fish is held securely in place. Stick the iris folding panel to the yellow card using double sided tape.
Starfish Card
Cut the iris folding panel to 7.5cm square. Stick the iris folding panel to the yellow card using double sided tape. Embelish the card with peel offs.
Small Shell Card
Cut the iris folding panel to 7.5cm square. Stick the iris folding panel to the pink card using double sided tape. Embelish the card with peel offs.
